    Beware of court house sales!!! It would be better for it to go back to the bank then puchase it. The reason is that you may be bidding on a property with an opening bid of $60,000 and your thinking screaming deal because your know that house is in a 400,000 dollar nieghborhood. What you don’t know is how many loans are you purchasing along with the winning bid. Not to mention all the leins on the property as well.

    Unless you really know what you are doing stay away from court house sales.

    In answer to your your question the instructions for what to do and who to write the check to is in the notice of sale posting. If not there is a phone number on the posting to get that info from.

    Read the ad in the newspaper, it should state who the deposit is made to.

    What I have done in the past when unsure was to have the check made payable to myself, and then if I won, endorse it over to the appropriate party. As an added bonus, if I didn’t win, it was a lot easier to deposit it back into my bank account.
