Ben works on oil rigs around the world and was traveling home from a job based in Mobile, Alabama which connected to flight #238 in Atlanta, Georgia with KLM airlines to go on to Amsterdam. His final destination was Edinburgh, Scotland. He forgot something in Amsterdam and I need someone to ask him to contact me either by email or phone so I can get it to him. He lives with 2 young sons and a wife.

Sounds like maybe you sat next to him on a flight. If so, contact the airline, let them know your name, details about the flight (date, time, to/from, seat you sat in, etc.) and that you need to get something back to the guy in the next seat. They will probably let you give it to them and he can get it from them.
No doubt if he left something on the flight he has already contacted the airline’s lost and found.
Unless Ben reads it here, about your only slum chance is something like Craigslist “missed connections.”
Give the item to the airlines and have them mail it to Ben. Ben should have given the airline an address when he bought his ticket so the airlines should have that on file.
