@vegaspilot03 As yes, free Silver. Good luck getting that off the ground. Silver was defeated in the 1896 Presidential election when Americans advocated free silver to replace the dominance of gold and reduce prices. As is typical in this country, the banks and financial institutions always win like they did in ’96 when Mckinley won the Presidency.
@MultiSmartass1 so much for the dollar eh? Silver silver silver….
Actually, It should have read “better hope they don’t get rid of those” US Dollars.
Sorry, I guess Iam not entirely awake.
@vegaspilot03 Unfortunately, I have forced myself to read up on economics and business, two subjects I hitherto had little to no interest in. The US has had its day economically. What people here don’t understand is nothing lasts forever. The party will be over if not today, tomorrow or next week than next year or the next decade. China owns over $2 trillion in obligations and a good number of those are in US dollars. Better hope they get rid of those.
@MultiSmartass1 I agree with you that we never had a completely free market. We were the closest in recent history, and we were the most free (liberty-wise), the most prosperous, and the best government in recent history. That was some time ago. Nixon placed a nail in the coffin, but there were many nails used. I am glad that you are understanding these issues, they are vast and quite entrenched into our monetary system. I hope we can pull the plug on the printing press.
@vegaspilot03 We have never really had a free market in this country. we’ve had freer markets in the past but the economy has largely been the result of not central planning but central guidance. The larger issues regarding the governments around the globe as well as the US stems from the fact in 1971. Nixon largely diamantled the Bretton Woods system allowing capital to fleely float without controls and the end of Glass-Steagall in ’99 also.
@MultiSmartass1 my friend, i understand your anger, but your emotions are misplaced on their enemy. Under free markets, the Federal Reserve would not exist, Government would never get involved in “bailing” out anyone, and the oil government would never have placed a ban on near shore drilling (aka, “safe drilling”) it was the government that forced oil companies to drill in unsafe places by giving them an incentive: a limit of $75 mil. in costs in case of an oil spill, is BP @ fault? yes and no.
@vegaspilot03 The free market just fucked America. It was called TARP, it was called a bailout. Tax payer moneys went to prop up AIG, Citibank, Goldman Sachs.
The free market just fucked America. It was called the BP Oil spill in the gulf of mexico. The free market if like smoking: bad for your health.
@MultiSmartass1 the free market doesnt fuck people. the free market gets rid of the bad investments. The government… well they try not to fuck people, they can only invest what they take from us… so….
I live in Vegas, they tried to develope downtown years ago, and that didn’t work either.
The parking downtown sucks and the surroundung area ia dangerous.
Nice presentation George. If there is any doubt in peoples minds that we are in fact in a depression those soon will be dispelled for the upcoming deflation is near. It will be interesting to see how the Vegas area bodes during this period. In the prior 1930s depression they did ok because of new laws that legalized gambling and the construction of the Hoover Dam. I was there last August and looks like this are getting worse since then.

@v44forme1 Those jobs are gone. That’s the problem with this economy. Keep in mind that the problem isn’t just that people are out of work or out of a jobs its that nearly half those jobs will evaporate, leave , depart and vanish FOREVER. If it was simply competition with illegals, that would be easy. Now, honest, hard working Americans are looking for josb that don’t exist anymore.
@v44forme1 I tend to agree. It was capitalism run amuck backed by the US Government and the Federal Reserve Bank which is largely private anyway. Wall Street demonstrated conclusively that they care only about themselves. So people are getting fucked by both the free market and the government.
And what about all the illegals working in hotels, construction etc. Where is the jobs for legal peoples of America.
When George Jetson went to Las Vegas, he had extra cash, he had a good job to go back to, his money was able to save, because he was not taxed to death, paid extrs fees, high interest rates etc etc. He had a safe pension. retirement plan, vacation, great medical plan just like the people on the hill. The USA made things, 100% USA made back then. Only China makes 100% Chinese made. Wall Street helped by our gov destroy Vegas, destroyed the USA.
VIVA LAS VEGAS (ELVIS THE “KING”)
I been ti /vegas lots of time and they have LOTS of homeless and complete families are homeless there they live in the dranage pipes..
Let’s not act like Vegas was some great established metropolitan area that, woefully, is finally collapsing after centuries of successful habitation. It was useless, cheap-ass desert that got made into what it is in about 1910, SPECIFICALLY for making a few dudes a ton of money gambling. Stupid shit like that never lasts. No kidding Vegas is going under- what did you expect?
damn that collaps at 4.10 looked like something I saw on september 11th.
@WilliamHCarney
